Greater Ottawa Area includes areas such as the Glebe, Westboro, Gloucester, Ottawa South, Vanier, and more! Ottawa’s vibrant City is composed of premier shopping areas, with many small stores and restaurants offering a wide variety of services. Much of the greater Ottawa Area consists of detached homes, many of them constructed in the early decades of the 20th century. Some of these homes are owner-occupied family residences, while others have been subdivided into multiple rental apartments.
The Glebe is home to Lansdowne Park which contains TD Place Stadium, where Ottawa’s Canadian Football League (CFL) football team (the Ottawa Redblacks) and the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees play their home games.
Westboro is a thriving community with a lively street scene. Several condominium projects are encouraging densification and promising to bring more people to the neighbourhood. The neighbourhood also boasts a concentration of outdoors and sport stores including Mountain Equipment Co-op, Vancouver-based Lululemon Athletica, Bushtukah, and The Expedition Shoppe and is close to cycling trails and whitewater rapids in the Ottawa River.
Gloucester is a suburb in the City of Ottawa that was established in 1792 and originally included lands east of the Rideau River from the Ottawa River south to Manotick. Gloucester now includes neighbourhoods such as Beacon Hill, Blackburn Hamlet, Leitrim, and Limebank, to name a few.
Ottawa South is a suburb, notable for having the highest Arab population in Ontario. Vanier is known to be a Francophone community and one of the last relatively inexpensive Ottawa neighbourhoods with a desirable location next to downtown.
